But a gymnastics teacher convinced him that its qualities were turned for the athletism, and therefore inscribed him in the Angola´s championship. Without training, Jordão was runner-up for the 80 meters. An injury, in this competition, moved away it from the tracks and from soccer. 28 of August of 1977; he entered in Sporting. The child dream became real. Jordão had a great debut in a game against the Vasco of Gama, where the Brazilian team lost 2-1 and the two goals for the green and white formation had been scored by the most recent star of the company. The career of "the leonine" athlete was marked by the injuries that he suffered in Sporting. Jordão was one of the most charismatic figures inside Sporting. For Sporting he has conquered two national championships of 1979/80 and 1981/82 ; two Portugal Cups in the 1981/82 seasons of 1977/78 and Supertaça in 1981/82. He won the Silver Boot in 1979/80, marking 31 goals in the National Championship. Through his career he scored 247 goals in official games, to the service of six clubs.He represented the National Team for 43 times and marked 15 goals. His debut with the "quinas" national team was in 29 of March of 1972, in a game against Cyprus (4-0). His last game was in 25 of January of 1989, in Atenas, against Greece (2-1). He was part of the team that conquered 2nd place in the Minicopa, in 1972 and in the European Cup in 1984 who conquered 3rd place. Honors:
