SOURCE: Benfica have offered Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz a four-year deal as first team coach, news daily A BOLA claims. The Lisbon-based club have been looking for a new coach since José Antonio Camacho quit his post, with the results achieved by interim boss Fernando Chalana being far from impressive. Queiroz seems to be high on Benfica's preference list to guide the Eagles next season, and the Portuguese tactician has not yet ruled out a return to the principal managerial role. The newspaper reports that negotiations between Benfica and Queiroz have been resumed, saying that the former Real Madrid coach is the top priority of both the club and the future sporting director, Rui Costa. Benfica have allegedly offered Queiroz a four-year deal as a way to compensate his current wages at Old Trafford, which amounts to a figure that the Portuguese outfit know they can't afford. Talks between both parties are expected to be intensified in the summer, as Benfica wish to respect Manchester United's crucial season moment they are going through. Queiroz is reportedly Sir Alex Ferguson's choice to take the reins of The Red Devils once he retires, and has a clause in his contract that will see him receive a fee in case Manchester United choose a different coach to replace the Scottish veteran.
