SOURCE: News daily A BOLA claims that FC Porto will deliver a formal complaint to FIFA against Atlético Madrid over the transfer of Paulo Assunção to the Spanish club. Assunção has joined Atlético Madrid on a free transfer after terminating his contract with FC Porto without just clause under the Webster ruling. Although the Spanish capital club had confirmed on their official website they were going to engage in talks with Porto over a friendly compensation, Atlético's chairman, Enrique Cerezo, made no mention to the pending conflict between the two clubs during Assunção's official presentation. A BOLA understands that the Dragons are ready to file a formal complaint against Atlético, which means they will not accept the €600,000 compensation proposed by the Spanish outfit. It is known that Assunção's former club, Nacional da Madeira, are entitled to 50% of the player's transfer fee and that Porto will exhibit alleged offers in the region of €8 million for the 28-year-old to take a much higher compensation.
