Pauleta Bids A Fond Farewell

Pedro Miguel Pauleta yesterday evening said an emotional farewell to Parc des Princes as his career at PSG came to an end after five years…

There was to be no fairytale ending for the veteran Portuguese hitman at the Parc des Prince on Saturday evening as Pauleta turned in a mundane performance as Paul Le Guen's PSG side were held to a one-all draw with Saint-Étienne.

After the match Pauleta addressed the fans on the club's PA system before saluting the crowd from the centre of the pitch.

The Parc des Princes was draped in banners thanking the striker for his loyalty and commitment to the club, but Pauleta was keen to thank the PSG support in an interview with Football365, stating, “It is the end of a history between us. I lived some great moments there [the Parc des Princes]. Today, it is very difficult.”

"I thank the Parisian supporters. They always were behind me. All my goals are for them. I spent eight splendid years in France.

"Thank you to France for giving me the pleasure of working with these two large clubs [Bordeaux and PSG]. And I hope that one day I could return."

Pauleta's last match with PSG will be one of his most important as it rests upon his shoulders to score the goals that will maintain their spot in Ligue 1.

PSG travel to Sochaux next weekend; the Eagle of the Azores has promised that his side will give everything to win.
