SOURCE: Valencia defender Marco Caneira has apparently attracted the attention of his former club, Sporting Clube de Portugal... A Bola claims that full-back Marco Caneira is one of Paulo Bento's main targets for the new season. The player's versatility, given that he can play on either flank or even in the middle, is apparently his major selling point. What's more, he could yet be available at a discount or on loan due to Valencia's poor financial situation. The Portuguese international has started 19 Liga games this season for Los Che. The Wanderer The 29-year-old is a product of Sporting's youth system, but failed to make the breakthrough during his first spell with the capital side. From there he enjoyed a period of loan spells in Portugal before joining Inter in 2003. During his time there, however, he didn't play a single Serie A game, instead being farmed out to the likes of Reggina, Benfica and Bordeaux on loan. Eventually he arrived at Valencia, where he has been since 2004. Last season, though, he rejoined Sporting on loan, becoming a member of the side that battled through to the Portuguese Cup Final, and eventual victory.
